[edit] How to check your Line Speeds on DSL and EFM

  1. Log into http://myaccount.acd.net
  2. Click on "Manage Services"
  3. Scroll down to find your DSL account. It will be listed by the circuit ID and the Address.


A description of the DSL Line Statistics:

  • Label = This is the label that we assign for internal tracking purposes, and is the card and port on the DSL gear at the Central Office.
  • Admin Status = This means whether the line is configured to be up or down in our equipment.
  • Oper Status = This tells if the DSL line is actually up or not.
  • Download Speed = This is the speed that the line is synchronized at, for your download speed.
  • Attainable Rate = This is the maximum speed that the line can attain. In general, attainable rate is never achieved because the difference between the attainable rate download speed is where we create some margin for error. If these numbers are the same, then there is no margin for errors that may occur on the line.
  • Profile = This lists the type of line profile that is programmed in our equipment.
  • Downstream Attenuation = This is the amount of noise that is on a line.
  • Upstream Attenuation = This is the amount of noise on a line.
  • Downstream SNR = This is the Downstream Signal to Noise Ratio. In general, we seek to have a SNR greater than 6.0. A higher number means the line will be more reliable, but also slower. A lower number means the line will be less reliable, but may be faster.
  • Upstream SNR = This is the Upstream Signal to Noise Ratio. In general, we seek to have an SNR greater than 6.0.
  • Both the Downstream SNR and Upstream SNR should be higher than 6.0.
